San Pedro de Yacochuya Torrontes 2019
“Incredible aromas of minerals, sliced lemons, orange blossom and stones. Full body with bright acidity and a long, flavourful finish. The balance and intensity of a top white Bordeaux. Drink now” James Suckling.
San Pedro de Yacochuya is Argentina’s famous “treasure” of the domestic wine industry. The vineyard occupies a privileged nook in one of the world’s highest wine-growing regions. It is the gold cradle of two of the sublime red wines in the country: the San Pedro de Yacochuya Tinto with a touch of cabernet sauvignon, and the premium ‘Yacochuya’, plain, without adjectives but with the very signature of Michel Rolland. Located at 2,035 meters above sea level with limited rainfall the terroir is something unique and matchless.
Marcos Etchart presents this Torrontes hand-harvested and fermented in stainless steel tanks with selected yeasts.
A pale-yellow wine. Slightly hazy unfiltered appearance. Citrus peel, apricot, and a hint of tropical fruits on the nose, complicated by a subtle leesy nuance. Ripe, round and dry, with a seriously chewy, saline mouthfeel. Complex flavours of fruits, herbs, minerals, and flowers. Finishes dry and long.
Pair It
Best served between 6° – 8° C, this Torrontes is a perfect pair with cheese board, fish and spicy food.
Cellar It
The 2019 Torrontes drinks well now but has a cellaring potential of 5-10 years.
