The Terroir
sense of place
A maxim amongst winemakers in Argentina to describe their wines. The altitude, soil and microclimates combined with modern winemaking techniques make Argentinian wines unique.

“Malbec in Argentina certainly is unique. It has an uncanny ability to be a perfect translator of the special soils and climate of the various regions of Argentina, from Mendoza’s Uco Valley to Salta to Patagonia’s Rio Negro. It’s like pinot noir in Burgundy or nebbiolo in Piedmont. The wines that these grape types make in their respective regions are almost impossible to duplicate anywhere else.”

“It’s never been a better time than now for quality winemaking in Argentina [...] The current generation of winemakers now better understands what it is doing and make wines that truly reflect the unique terroirs of the country.”

WHERE THE OLD MEETS THE NEW
MENDOZA
Mendoza is a mecca of winemaking. Home of the legendary French grape Malbec, the region produces red wines of great concentration and intensity.
A unique location, sweeping plains set against the breathtaking backdrop of the snow-capped Andes, Mendoza has over 400 years of winemaking history.
The largest wine region in Argentina, Mendoza is located on a high-altitude plateau at the foot of the Andes Mountains. The province is responsible for roughly 70% of the country’s annual wine production and is one of the main producing centres in the world.
SALTA
WINES CREATED BY ALTITUDE
SALTA
Salta is one of the worlds highest altitude wine regions. With 2,600 hectares of vines growing between 1,700 and 3,200 meters above sea level, it is also one of the worlds most exclusive.
The high altitudes and the strength of the sun forced the grapes to adapt and thicken their skin. This characteristic of the grapes then translates into deeper-coloured wines with higher concentration of tannins.
Cafayate is the winemaking heart of fine wines of this region. This region is known for its creole grape Torrontes, a white grape, a fresh and fruity wine, aromatic with a distinctly floral and refreshing acidity. Main varieties of grapes are Malbec, Torrontes (white), Cabernet Sauvignon, Tannat and Merlot
